Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Real World Opinion ("RWO", "we", "us") is the controller of personal data processed through this service. Contact us at Hello@Realworldopinion.com.

2. What we collect

  • Account data: email address, display name, and optional profile photo.
  • Verification data: phone number and, where you request full verification, a photo submitted for review. Verification photos are used only to confirm identity and are deleted after review.
  • Content: posts, comments, polls, votes, reactions, reports, and direct messages you send.
  • Payment data: handled by Stripe. We store subscription status, plan, and billing metadata but not full card numbers.
  • Technical data: device type, browser, IP address, approximate location, and basic usage events needed to operate and secure the service.

3. Legal bases (GDPR)

We process personal data on the following bases: performance of the contract with you (providing the service), your consent (for optional features such as marketing emails), legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention, product improvement), and legal obligations (tax, responding to lawful requests).

4. How we use your data

  • Create and secure your account and verify identity.
  • Deliver posts, comments, polls, direct messages, and notifications.
  • Process subscriptions and payments.
  • Enforce our Terms of Use and Community Guidelines.
  • Improve the service and prevent fraud and abuse.
  • Send transactional email and, with your consent, product updates.

5. Sharing

We share data only with providers who help us run RWO, under contract and only for our purposes: hosting and database (Lovable Cloud / Supabase), payments (Stripe), email delivery, SMS delivery (for phone verification), and error monitoring. Moderators and admins on our team can access content and account metadata when reviewing reports. We do not sell personal data.

6. International transfers

Some providers may process data outside the EU/EEA. Where that happens we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent safeguard.

7. Retention

We keep account data for as long as your account is active. Verification photos are deleted shortly after review. Posts, comments, and polls remain visible until you delete them or close your account. Email suppression records (unsubscribes, bounces) are kept for as long as needed to honour your choice. Backups roll off on a normal cycle.

8. Your rights

Under GDPR you can request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection, and you can withdraw consent at any time. You can also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (in Sweden: Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten, IMY). To exercise your rights, contact Hello@Realworldopinion.com.

9. Security

We use row-level security in our database, encrypted transport (HTTPS), and role-based access for staff. No system is perfectly secure; if we detect a breach that affects you, we will notify you as required by law.

10. Children

RWO is not intended for children under 13, or under the minimum age required by local law. If we learn that we hold data about a child below that age we will delete it.
