Australia and Solomon Islands have promised to strengthen diplomatic and security cooperation following a Chinese ballistic-missile test in the Pacific. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Solomon Islands Prime Minister Matthew Wale criticised the limited advance notice given before the test and said Pacific nations should not be exposed to unnecessary military risks. Solomon Islands is also reviewing its security agreement with China, which has caused concern in Australia and the United States. The government in Honiara says it will protect its independence while maintaining relationships with multiple international partners.
