Samoa's FAST party won a strong parliamentary majority following a political split that removed former Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mata'afa from the party. FAST won 30 of the 50 contested seats under its new leader, Laaulialemalietoa Leuatea Schmidt, while Mata'afa's newly formed party secured only three seats.
